GAZA, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Three Palestinians were killed on Sunday in an Israeli airstrike targeting a gathering of people in western Gaza City, according to Palestinian sources and eyewitnesses.
Local sources and eyewitnesses said an Israeli drone struck a group of Palestinians near Al-Katiba Mosque, close to the Hamas-affiliated Ansar security complex, west of Gaza City.
Palestinian medical sources told Xinhua that the airstrike killed three people and injured several others, with the injured taken to al-Shifa hospital.
There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military or Hamas regarding the strike.
Earlier in the day, Gaza's health authorities said the bodies of three people had arrived at hospitals over the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 641 since a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas took effect in the enclave on Oct. 10, 2025.
Since the outbreak of the war in the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7, 2023, a total of 72,126 Palestinians have been killed and 171,809 others injured, according to figures released by Gaza's health authorities on Sunday. ■
