WASHINGTON, March 8 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Central Command said on Sunday that the seventh U.S. service member has been killed amid the strikes against Iran, which the United States and Israel launched on Feb. 28.
"Last night, a U.S. service member passed away from injuries," the command said in a post on X. "The service member was seriously wounded at the scene of an attack on U.S. troops in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on March 1."
"This is the seventh service member killed in action during Operation Epic Fury. Major combat operations continue," said the command.
On Saturday, the bodies of the first six U.S. soldiers were returned to the United States.
At least 1,332 Iranian civilians, including women and children, have been killed and thousands more injured since the U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran launched on Feb. 28, Iran's UN ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani said Friday. ■
