ISLAMABAD, March 7 (Xinhua) -- At least seven people were killed and eight others injured in a road accident in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province early Saturday, according to a statement from Rescue 1122.
The incident occurred at around 2:35 a.m. local time in Gwadar district along a highway, the emergency rescue service said.
A car traveling from Gwadar to Pakistan's southern port city Karachi collided with a broken-down water bowser parked on the road and then crashed into another car coming from the opposite direction, the statement said.
Rescue teams reached the site, provided first aid and shifted the injured and deceased to a nearby hospital.
Road accidents are common in Pakistan due to poor road conditions, lack of vehicle maintenance and violations of traffic rules. ■
