BAKU, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov announced on Friday that over 50 countries have requested Azerbaijan's assistance to evacuate more than 2,500 of their citizens from Iran due to escalating military tensions in the Middle East, according to the Report News Agency.
During a joint briefing with Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi in Baku, Bayramov explained that Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is operating at full capacity to expedite evacuations from high-risk areas.
He highlighted that specific requests have already been received to assist approximately 1,000 individuals from five countries, namely the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain. ■
