BEIJING, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.38 percent to 4,124.19 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.59 percent higher at 14,172.63 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices totaled 2.2 trillion yuan (about 318.73 billion U.S. dollars), down from 2.39 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
The sectors for power grid equipment and computing power leasing led the gains, while stocks related to the oil and gas sectors were among the major losers.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.38 percent to close at 3,229.30 points.
The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 0.87 percent higher at 1,763.81 points on Friday. ■
