MANAMA, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Bahrain on Thursday announced that a Bapco Energies refinery in Maameer was targeted in an Iranian missile strike.
Bahrain's National Communication Center stated that the fire has been fully contained, with no reported injuries, and refinery operations are continuing.
It added that an assessment of the damage is currently underway.
Bapco Energies operates a portfolio spanning the entire energy value chain in Bahrain, including a 267,000-barrel-per-day refinery, and oversees the country's largest energy investment.
In response to a joint attack by the United States and Israel on Saturday, Iran launched large-scale strikes on Israel and multiple U.S. bases across the Middle East. ■
