ABU DHABI, March 6 (Xinhua) -- The air defense systems of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) intercepted 9 ballistic missiles and 109 drones on Friday, the Ministry of Defense said.
The air defense units detected 9 ballistic missiles and destroyed all of them, the ministry said.
The units detected 112 drones during the same period. Of these, 109 were intercepted, while three drones fell within the country's territory, it added.
Since the start of the Iranian retaliatory attacks on U.S. assets in the region, the UAE has detected 205 ballistic missiles, destroying 190 of them, while 13 fell into the sea and two landed inside the country, according to the ministry.
It added that 1,184 Iranian drones had been detected, of which 1,110 were intercepted, while 74 drones fell within UAE territory. In addition, eight cruise missiles were detected and destroyed.
The attacks have resulted in three deaths involving Pakistani, Nepali and Bangladeshi nationals, and 112 cases of minor injuries among people of various nationalities in the UAE, the ministry said. ■
