KATHMANDU, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Around 60 percent of eligible voters cast their votes in the House of Representatives elections in Nepal that concluded on Thursday, the top official of the Election Committee said.
In a press conference, Ram Prasad Bhandari, acting chief election commissioner, claimed that the polls were largely peaceful across the country.
A total of 18,903,689 voters were eligible to cast their ballots. As many as 6,541 party and independent candidates are running for 275 seats in the lower house. ■
