LONDON, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Britain had taken the precautionary measure to temporarily withdraw some of the staff members and their dependents from its embassy in Bahrain amid the escalating tensions in the Middle East, a statement from the government's website said Wednesday.
The British Embassy in Bahrain continues to operate, according to the statement.
The government also warned citizens that regional escalation poses significant security risks and had led to travel disruption, urging them to stay away from areas around security or military facilities.
Iran has launched several drone and missile attacks in Bahrain in response to the U.S.-Israel military operation against Iran, targeting facilities such as U.S. air bases and hotels.
Bahrain's military said on Tuesday that it has intercepted and "neutralized" 73 missiles and 91 drones launched by Iran, preventing damage to the kingdom's infrastructure. ■
