KATHMANDU, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Foreign tourist arrivals in Nepal in February increased by 8.8 percent year on year, with the country welcoming 105,441 tourists during the month, the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) said on Tuesday.
After a drop in arrivals in September last year, when the country witnessed political unrest, Nepal saw a recovery in tourist numbers in the following months.
According to the NTB, Nepal recorded 92,573 international tourist arrivals by air in February, an increase of 15.7 percent compared to the same period last year.
India remained the largest source of international tourists, with 22,745 visitors, followed by China with 10,816.
The United States, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar ranked among the top five visitor sources. ■
