NEW YORK, March 2 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar strengthened in late trading on Monday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.79 percent to 98.382 at 3 p.m. (2000 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro dropped to 1.1707 dollars from 1.1819 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.3422 dollars from 1.3475 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 157.23 Japanese yen, higher than 155.95 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar increased to 0.7784 Swiss francs from 0.7679 Swiss francs, and it added to 1.3673 Canadian dollars from 1.363 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was up to 9.1347 Swedish Kronor from 9.02 Swedish Kronor. ■
