JERUSALEM, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Air raid sirens sounded across central Israel on Tuesday as falling missile fragments struck more than a dozen locations, leaving at least five people injured, according to Israeli sources.
Israel's state-owned Kan TV news reported that 18 sites were hit by fragments of the intercepted missile, causing damage and sparking fires.
The police said the results of the attack were still under review, and bomb disposal experts are currently managing multiple impact sites involving munitions fragments across the Tel Aviv District. Forces are working to secure and isolate the areas to prevent further harm to the public.
Home Front Command search and rescue forces were scanning the impact sites, searching for possible casualties among the debris.
The missile attack came as the joint operation by Israel and its allies entered its fourth day, with Israel engaged in active hostilities against both the government of Iran and its allies in Lebanon, amid retaliatory missile and drone attacks from both fronts. ■
