TEHRAN, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Iran had carried out a "large-scale drone and missile attack" targeting a U.S. air base in Bahrain, its official IRNA news agency said on Tuesday.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched "a large-scale drone and missile attack at dawn on the U.S. air base in the Sheikh Isa area of Bahrain," IRNA said in a post on Telegram.
Meanwhile, the U.S. embassy in Riyadh confirmed it was hit by an attack, adding it would be closed on Tuesday.
The U.S. State Department said on Tuesday it has ordered the departure of non-emergency U.S. government personnel and family members from Bahrain, Iraq and Jordan. ■
