JERUSALEM, March 3 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli military struck Iran's Presidential office and the building of the Supreme National Security Council, dropping dozens of bombs on the country's leadership compound in Tehran, military spokesman Effie Defrin said.

In a press briefing, Defrin said that warplanes attacked the compound overnight. He added that the gathering compound, which he described as the site of Iran's most senior security decision-making forum, was targeted, as well as the institution for training Iranian military officers and additional key government infrastructure.

The move came as the joint U.S.-Israel military operation against Iran entered its fourth day, and as Israel said it was now attacking both Iranian and Hezbollah sites in Lebanon.

In southern Lebanon, the military struck more than 160 Hezbollah sites over the past day, the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement. According to the military, the strikes targeted Hezbollah's elite Radwan Force militants and military command centers, which were reportedly used to launch numerous attacks toward Israel.

The death toll in Iran rose to 787, according to the Iranian Red Crescent, while the Lebanese Health Ministry reported at least 52 deaths. In Israel, missile strikes killed 10 people, according to the Magen David Adom rescue service.
