RIYADH, March 2 (Xinhua) -- The Saudi Energy Ministry affirmed on Monday that the attack on the Ras Tanura Refinery has no impact on the supply of petroleum products to local markets.

The Ras Tanura oil refinery, owned by state oil giant Aramco, sustained limited damage due to debris from the interception of two drones in its vicinity, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The incident resulted in a limited fire, which was immediately contained by emergency response teams.

The ministry said that no injuries or fatalities were reported, and some operational units at the refinery were shut down as a precautionary measure.

The incident comes amid sharply heightened tensions following a joint U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran on Saturday and subsequent retaliatory missile and drone launches by Tehran toward Israel and U.S. assets across the Middle East.
