MADRID, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Real Betis and Sevilla drew 2-2 in the Seville derby on Sunday, with Sevilla fighting back from two goals down to earn a valuable point to avoid relegation in La Liga.
Betis was the better side in the first half. Antony opened the scoring with an overhead kick and Alvaro Fidalgo doubled the lead eight minutes before halftime to put Betis seemingly on course to its second derby win of the season.
Sevilla responded after the break. Alexis Sanchez pulled one back in the 62nd minute and Isaac Romero, who has missed chances at times this season, struck the equalizer five minutes from time with a powerful left-footed finish.
Elsewhere, Celta Vigo boosted its hopes of qualifying for Europe after coming from behind to beat Girona 2-1. Vladyslav Vanat gave Girona a first-half lead, but Ferran Jutgla equalized in the 58th minute before Celta took all three points when Vitor Reis scored an own goal with 20 minutes remaining.
Largie Ramazani scored a second-half penalty to give Valencia a 1-0 home win over Osasuna, lifting the club away from the relegation zone.
Rafa Mir scored a last-minute penalty to rescue a point for Elche in a 2-2 home draw with Espanyol. Espanyol led twice through Kike Garcia's seventh-minute strike and Carlos Romero's left-footed shot in the 57th, but Marc Aguado leveled in the 42nd before Mir converted from the spot.
Espanyol finished a frantic finale with 10 men after Charles Pickel was sent off in the 95th minute for arguing with the referee. ■
