ANKARA, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Türkiye's economy expanded by 3.6 percent in 2025, according to official data on Monday.

The data, released by the Turkish Statistical Institute, showed the economy grew 3.4 percent year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2025, but quarterly growth slowed to 0.4 percent from 1 percent.

The country's gross domestic product per capita in 2025 was 712,200 Turkish lira at current prices, or about 18,040 U.S. dollars with the average rate in 2025.

In its October forecast last year, the International Monetary Fund projected that Türkiye's economy would grow by 3.7 percent in 2025 and 2026. In January, the IMF revised Türkiye's growth rate forecast to 4.2 percent for 2026 and 4.1 percent for 2027, according to an update to its World Economic Outlook.

In December, Turkey's Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek said the economy was set to grow about 3.7 percent in 2025.
