VIENNA, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Saturday urged restraint to avoid any nuclear safety risks to people in the Middle East, saying it is closely monitoring developments in the region.

The IAEA is in permanent contact with countries in the region, and so far there is no evidence of any radiological impact, said the IAEA on social platform X, adding that it will keep monitoring the situation and informing.

In a phone call with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger was informed that no nuclear facilities in Iran have been struck so far, according to her post on X.

Meinl-Reisinger called on all sides to return to the negotiating table after the United States and Israel attacked Iran on Saturday. "We have already taken action in recent days to enable technical talks on the Iranian nuclear program in Vienna and remain ready to keep this option for de-escalation open," she said.
