ANKARA, March 1 (Xinhua) -- Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Sunday held his second phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi since the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran, the state-run TRT broadcaster reported.
The two sides exchanged views on the latest developments, according to sources from the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
Fidan had already engaged in intensive diplomatic contacts on Saturday, the day the attacks began, holding separate phone calls with the foreign ministers of Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Syria, Egypt and Indonesia to discuss the unfolding situation.
In a statement released Saturday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry called on all parties to immediately end the attacks and expressed Türkiye's readiness "to provide the necessary support for mediation."
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has also conducted a series of phone conversations since late Saturday as part of Ankara's diplomatic outreach. He spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump and separately with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. ■
