UNITED NATIONS, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomes the continuation of the indirect talks mediated by Oman between Iran and the United States, his spokesperson said Friday.
The UN chief calls on the parties to continue to work with determination and in good faith toward a lasting agreement, and emphasizes that full and comprehensive International Atomic Energy Agency verification is essential for any successful resolution of the Iran nuclear issue, spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said at a daily briefing.
In response to a question on the latest developments surrounding Iran, Dujarric said there were "two potential tracks."
"I would say positive messages come out of the diplomatic track, which we're continuing to encourage," Dujarric said, adding that there were also "very worrying military movements throughout the region, which is extremely concerning."
"We encourage everyone to focus on the diplomatic track," he said. ■
