DOHA, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Qatar on Saturday condemned Iranian missile strikes on its territory, calling them a violation of its sovereignty and a direct threat to national security and regional stability, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The ministry said Qatar reserves the right to respond under international law and in proportion to the attack, stressing it will defend its sovereignty and national interests.
It said Qatar has long pushed for dialogue with Iran and supports peaceful solutions, but the missile strikes undermine efforts to ease tensions.
The statement also denounced attacks on neighboring countries, including Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and Bahrain, and reaffirmed Qatar's support for their security.
Qatar called for an immediate halt to escalation and urged a return to talks to prevent further regional conflict. Enditem.
