KUWAIT CITY, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday condemned an Iranian attack targeting its territory, describing it as a "flagrant violation of Kuwait's sovereignty, airspace, international law and the United Nations Charter."
In a statement posted on its official account on the social media platform X, the ministry said Kuwait strongly condemns the "criminal Iranian attack" that targeted Kuwaiti territory earlier on Saturday morning, calling it a blatant breach of the country's sovereignty and airspace as well as international law and the UN Charter.
The ministry affirmed Kuwait's "full and inherent right to self-defense," stressing that Kuwait reserves the right to take all necessary measures.
The ministry added that Kuwait's air defense systems had successfully intercepted the attack, warning that the continuation of such military escalation in the region would undermine regional security and stability.
Several explosions were heard around noon in Kuwait, while air raid sirens sounded across the country. Kuwait's Ministry of Interior urged citizens to remain calm, exercise restraint, and follow official media outlets for civil defense instructions and guidance related to the situation. ■
