BERLIN, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Klassiker against Dortmund feels like a title match, Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany said ahead of the Bavarians' tough duel in Dortmund this Saturday evening.
While enjoying an eight-point lead in the 2025-26 Bundesliga season, the 39-year-old spoke about its special significance.
"The truth is, these games are so important that they serve as a tiny title decider in themselves," the former Manchester City defender said, adding, "winning has absolute priority for us."
Kompany said that the past few days felt like "a Klassiker week" and he is cherishing "that kind of thrill."
While the BVB has only lost one of its recent 31 games and conceded only eight goals in their last eight home games, Bayern is enjoying a 32-game streak with only one defeat and leads the league with the best attacking record, scoring 37 goals in last 11 away-matches.
Konrad Laimer is returning to cover one of the Bavarians' full-back jobs after an injury break, but the participation of keeper Manuel Neuer remains uncertain. ■
