BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Gaston Avila scored late as Rosario Central recovered from a goal down to secure a 2-1 win at Gimnasia La Plata in Argentina's Apertura tournament on Wednesday.
The hosts took the lead in the fourth minute when Ignacio Fernandez fired in from eight yards after his initial attempt was blocked by Nelson Insfran.
Enzo Gimenez equalized just after halftime, finishing a counterattack by smashing a first-time drive into the far corner.
Avila completed the turnaround in the 75th minute with a glancing header from a corner.
The result leaves Rosario Central fourth in Group B with 11 points from seven outings, a point ahead of fifth-placed Gimnasia.
Elsewhere in Argentina's top flight on Wednesday, Velez Sarsfield was held to a goalless home draw by Deportivo Riestra, Barracas Central won 2-1 at home to Tigre and Estudiantes prevailed 2-0 at Newell's Old Boys. ■
