MADRID, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio has sent a message to calm fans over a potentially serious injury after being taken to hospital following a heavy fall during his side's 2-1 Champions League win over Benfica.
Asencio collided with teammate Eduardo Camavinga in the 77th minute of the game. Left immobile on the pitch, he was carefully treated before being stretchered off wearing a neck brace and subsequently taken to the hospital for further tests.
Coach Alvaro Arbeloa informed the press after the game that the injury was "something in his neck, but doesn't look serious." Asencio himself posted on social media Thursday morning, saying that "it has only been a scare."
Although it remains to be seen if he will be able to play against Getafe in La Liga on Monday.
Arbeloa has less positive news about Real Madrid's top-scorer Kylian Mbappe, who missed Wednesday's game with a knee problem.
"What Mbappe has isn't going to be a question of days, it's going to be longer," the Real Madrid coach told Movistar TV in his post-game interview, implying some weeks on the sidelines for the French international. ■
