GAZA, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Two Palestinians were killed Tuesday by Israeli fire in the town of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian sources.
The bodies of the two men were transported to Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, according to medical sources.
Meanwhile, Palestinian security sources said that the Israeli army continues its demolition of homes in the eastern areas of Khan Younis and Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, as well as in the eastern areas of Gaza City.
The Israeli artillery targeted the eastern areas of the Al-Tuffah neighborhood in eastern Gaza City, and armored vehicles fired along the eastern borders of the Strip, with no injuries reported, according to the sources.
Also on Tuesday, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) announced the launch of a logistical operation to deliver vital medical supplies from its warehouses in the West Bank to the Gaza Strip via the Israeli-controlled Kerem Shalom crossing.
In a statement, the PRCS said that the mission was launched in response to repeated warnings about the depletion of its stockpiles of medicines and medical supplies, critical for keeping field hospitals and clinics in the Gaza Strip operational.
Five trucks carrying more than three million units of medicines and medical solutions departed on Monday, the society said, with four more scheduled to follow.
The convoy was organized through months of coordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross and funded by international partners, the PRCS added, noting that the aid is essential to ensuring emergency health services to citizens amid severe strain on Gaza's health sector. ■
