TEHRAN, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Iran's security forces have killed three members of a "terrorist" network affiliated with extremist groups and foreign intelligence services and arrested eight others in an operation near the country's southeastern border, the semi-official Fars news agency reported Wednesday.
The operation was carried out by Iran's intelligence forces, members of the Ground Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, and police in Sistan and Baluchestan province, Fars said.
The 11 "terrorists" were all foreign nationals recruited by the network, Fars said, adding that significant amounts of weapons, including anti-tank grenade launchers, rifles and pistols, were seized from the "terrorists" during inspections of their hideout.
The detained individuals explicitly confessed to having conducted a "terrorist" operation in the southeastern Kerman province in December last year, in which three policemen and a civilian were killed, Fars said.
Fars did not specify the date and exact location of the operation nor the identities of the "terrorists." ■
