MOSCOW, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Four people have died and one other has been injured in an apartment building from carbon monoxide poisoning in Russia's Kursk region, regional governor Alexander Khinshtein said Tuesday citing preliminary reports.
The victims included three men and one woman, Khinshtein said on his Telegram channel. The injured woman is in critical condition and has been hospitalized, Khinshtein said, adding that the families would be provided with necessary assistance.
Emergency services are working at the scene, and the causes of the tragedy are being investigated, he said.
"The preliminary cause is a gas leak," the Russian Investigative Committee's Directorate for the Kursk region said, noting that two apartments were damaged. ■
