JERUSALEM, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Israel has completed the first large-scale demonstration phase of its National Drone Initiative, a key step toward integrating unmanned aerial systems into its national transportation network, the Ministry of Transport and Road Safety said Tuesday.
About 350 operational drone flights were successfully carried out across Israel in recent days. The demonstration featured simultaneous flights by multiple operators, including medical and logistics deliveries, emergency support missions, and the use of AI-powered advanced traffic management systems.
The ministry said the project aims to establish low-altitude airspace as a regulated and safe transportation layer for civilian use.
The next phase will further expand integration efforts, positioning Israel as a global leader in smart mobility and urban air transportation technologies, it added.
The initiative is led by the ministry in partnership with state-owned Ayalon Highways, the Civil Aviation Authority, and the Israel Innovation Authority, alongside leading private drone companies. ■
