ISLAMABAD, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- At least four policemen were killed and three others injured in a suicide attack in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province, officials said on Tuesday.
The attack occurred when a suicide bomber blew himself up near a police check post in Bhakkar district of the province, killing four cops on the spot while injuring three passersby, Bhakkar District Police Officer Shahzad Rafiq told media.
Following the blast, police, rescue teams and additional contingents of security forces rushed to the site and shifted the injured people to a nearby hospital in the district.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation in the surroundings.
No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. ■
