GENEVA, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- President of Xinhua News Agency Fu Hua met with World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala here on Monday.
Fu noted that this year marks the 25th anniversary of China's accession to the WTO. Over the past 25 years, Xinhua has consistently witnessed and documented many memorable moments in exchanges and cooperation between China and the WTO, he said.
Looking ahead, Xinhua is ready to further strengthen communication and cooperation with the WTO, jointly highlighting the importance of the multilateral trading system and better presenting the stories of how China and the WTO have worked together to drive global economic growth, Fu added.
Okonjo-Iweala commended China's long-standing support for WTO reform. She said China's announcement last year that it would not seek new special and differential treatment in the WTO's current or future negotiations demonstrated the country's resolve to deepen reform and opening up.
She expressed willingness to further strengthen communication and cooperation with China, and jointly advance the reform, improvement and development of the WTO. ■
