TEHRAN, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- A trainer aircraft belonging to the Iranian army's air force crashed on Thursday evening in western Iran, killing one of the two pilots on board, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.
The incident occurred in Nowbaran district between the provinces of Hamedan and Markazi, and rescuers rushed to the scene, Fars quoted Hamzeh Amraei, Hamedan's deputy governor for political and security affairs, as saying.
The other pilot survived unharmed, and the cause of the incident is under investigation, Fars reported.
The pilots were carrying out a nocturnal training mission in Hamedan province when the incident occurred, it reported. ■
