NEW YORK, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- Flights at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey resumed Wednesday evening, the airport said in a post on X, after a temporary ground stop was imposed earlier.
The ground stop was ordered after a JetBlue aircraft made an emergency landing, suspending flight operations for more than an hour.
JetBlue Flight 543, bound for West Palm Beach, Florida, turned back shortly after taking off due to engine failure, CBS News reported.
The crew reported smoke in the cockpit and evacuated passengers via slides after the aircraft exited the runway, according to a statement by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
It's reported that the flight had 122 passengers on board, and one passenger was taken to the hospital after reporting chest pains.
The FAA said it would investigate the incident. ■
