JERUSALEM, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Israel National Cyber Directorate (INCD) on Thursday reported a sharp rise in phishing attacks across the country over the past year.
According to its statement, the INCD handled 31,657 phishing attacks in 2025, representing a sevenfold increase from 2024. Phishing scams typically attempt to trick people into revealing sensitive information such as passwords or credit card details.
The agency stated that attackers primarily sought login credentials, attempted to distribute malware, or aimed to steal credit card information. It also noted a growing use of AI tools to tailor scam messages to specific audiences. Malicious links were blocked within an average of six hours.
The INCD urged citizens to avoid clicking on suspicious links, verify payment requests through official websites, and report any suspected phishing attempts. ■
