MUSCAT, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi said that the second round of indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the United States concluded in Geneva on Tuesday with "good progress."
"Today's indirect negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America in Geneva concluded with good progress towards identifying common goals and relevant technical issues," Al Busaidi said in a post on social media platform X.
He described the meetings as "constructive," adding that the parties "made serious efforts to define a number of guiding principles for a final deal."
Al Busaidi also highlighted the mediation role of the International Atomic Energy Agency, confirming that "the parties left with clear next steps before the next meeting."
The first round of the indirect nuclear talks was held in the Omani capital Muscat on Feb. 6. The renewed diplomatic efforts come amid escalating tensions between Iran and the United States, as Washington intensifies its military buildup in the West Asia region. ■
