BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Enzo Copetti and Angel Di Maria scored second-half goals as Rosario Central rose to fourth in Argentina's Apertura tournament standings on Sunday with a 2-0 home win over Barracas Central.
Copetti opened the scoring just before the hour at El Gigante in Rosario with a glancing header after Agustin Sandez's cross from the left wing.
Di Maria doubled the advantage in the 90th minute by combining with Julian Fernandez and lifting a shot over goalkeeper Marcelo Mino.
The visitors controlled just a third of the total possession and managed only three shots on goal.
Rosario Central is now fourth in Group B with eight points from five games, three points ahead of 12th-placed Barracas.
"We needed this win," 2022 World Cup winner Di Maria said after the match. "I was very keen to get on the scoresheet again after getting two assists in my last two games. I'm at a unique stage in my career and enjoying every moment."
Earlier, Boca Juniors was held to a goalless home draw by Platense, a result that left the Buenos Aires club seventh in Group A with seven points. Platense is fifth, one point ahead.
Elsewhere in Argentina's top flight on Sunday, Institute Cordoba won 2-0 at home to Central Cordoba and Gimnasia LP was held to a goalless home draw by Estudiantes. ■
