TEHRAN, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Iran's trade deficit narrowed by 6 billion U.S. dollars in the first 10 months of the current Iranian year, the official news agency Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported on Sunday.

Citing data from Iran's Customs Administration, the IRNA said the trade balance for the period from March 21, 2025 to Jan. 20, 2026 stood at a deficit of 4 billion dollars, compared with a 10-billion-dollar shortfall a year earlier. The improvement came despite a 12-day war with Israel, the reimposition of UN sanctions, and tighter unilateral embargoes.

Non-oil exports totaled 130.03 million tonnes worth 45.01 billion dollars, up 1.33 percent by volume but down 6.3 percent in value from a year earlier, when exports reached 128.19 million tonnes valued at 48.04 billion dollars.

Imports rose 4.6 percent in volume to 33.17 million tonnes, while their value fell 15.55 percent to 49.1 billion dollars.
