TEHRAN, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Iran has slammed the European Union's (EU) "incorrect approaches" toward the country, particularly the bloc's designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization and its "inappropriate interventions" in Iran's internal affairs.
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi made the remarks on Friday during a phone call with his Cypriot counterpart, Constantinos Kombos, whose country holds the EU's rotating presidency, according to a statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
Araghchi also criticized the EU's "incorrect" stances on developments in West Asia, urging the bloc to reconsider its "unconstructive" approaches toward Iran and the region.
The two sides exchanged views on renewed nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
For his part, Kombos welcomed the resumption of nuclear talks between Iran and the United States, emphasizing the need to continue negotiations and reduce tensions, according to the Iranian statement.
The phone call comes amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington and a U.S. military buildup in the region. The two countries held their initial round of indirect talks on Feb. 6 in the Omani capital, Muscat. ■
