ACCRA, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Zonda Tec Ghana Limited, a Ghana-based Chinese automobile assembly and distribution company, late Wednesday launched a range of Chery sport utility vehicles (SUVs) into the Ghanaian market.
Among the new SUV models launched to the joy of Ghanaian auto lovers present were the Chery Tiggo 2, Chery Tiggo 7, and Chery Tiggo 9.
Also on display on Wednesday were iCAUR V23 and iCAUR 03, both electric vehicles (EVs) from the Chery range.
Speaking during the launch, Yang Yang, Managing Director of Zonda, said the goal of her company was to continue serving Ghanaians the best of automobiles from China.
"Chery is a leading automobile exporter from China, and I want my Ghanaian auto lovers to enjoy its unique features," Yang told Xinhua.
According to her, Ghanaians have embraced automobiles from China, especially because they know whatever Zonda brings from China is the best.
Seth Twum Akwaboah, chief executive officer of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), lauded Zonda for injecting dynamism into the auto space in Ghana.
"We are looking forward to the day when you will go beyond assembling the semi-knocked-down parts to even producing some parts here in Ghana. It is possible because you already do some amount of that," Akwaboah said.
He said such manufacturing efforts by Zonda and other Chinese companies would flourish under Ghana's new 24-hour economy policy. ■
