MADRID, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Spain will play Chile in Mexico in its last preparation game ahead of this summer's FIFA World Cup finals.
The news was confirmed by a message on social media by the Spanish Embassy in Mexico. The match will be played in the Cuauhtemoc Stadium in Puebla on June 8, just eight days before the Spanish kicks off its World Cup campaign against Cape Verde in Atlanta (USA).
"The Spanish National Team will play a friendly against Chile on June 8 in the Cuauhtemoc Stadium in Puebla," announced the Spanish Embassy, adding that the game was "a sporting event that will strengthen ties between Spain and Mexico through football."
The announcement means Spain now has four games between now and the start of the World Cup, starting with an Argentina game on March 27, followed three days later with a friendly against Egypt, and a rival that has still to be confirmed on June 4 in La Coruna, before traveling to Puebla and onto the United States. ■
