SYDNEY, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- A man has been hospitalized after being shot in both legs in a drive-by attack in western Sydney on Wednesday night.
A statement released by the police force in the state of New South Wales (NSW) on Thursday said that emergency services were called to reports of the shooting in Guildford, 20 km west of central Sydney, at around 11 p.m. on Wednesday.
Officers arrived at the scene and found that a 26-year-old man had been struck in the right calf and left foot by shots fired from a dark-colored vehicle, which subsequently left the scene.
Police officers provided first aid until ambulance paramedics arrived and took the man to the hospital in a stable condition.
Less than one hour later, police were notified of a second drive-by shooting that targeted a home in Guildford.
Officers found that three shots had been fired into a window, but that the occupants of the home were not injured.
The NSW Police Force said that crime scenes were established at both locations and that investigators believe two separate vehicles were involved in the two incidents, with no confirmed link between them. ■
