BERLIN, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- A minor was taken into custody on Thursday after police received a tip about a suspicious person who may have been carrying a weapon at a vocational school in Salzgitter, a city in the northern German state of Lower Saxony.
A police spokesperson told German public broadcaster NDR that officers were alerted to a person in the school who was reportedly armed. Emergency services responded and searched the school building.
Students were initially asked to remain in their classrooms before being escorted out in an orderly manner by police, the spokesperson said.
Authorities said no one was in danger at any time. The minor detained is believed to match the description provided in the tip. Police said it remains under investigation whether the boy was actually carrying a weapon. ■
