DAMASCUS, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Syria's interior authorities on Thursday opened a designated center in northwestern Idlib province to receive members affiliated with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) who wish to regularize their status and return to civilian life.

The center, located near the military court in Idlib city, will begin receiving applicants from Saturday through March 1, the authorities said in a circular.

Individuals seeking to settle their status are instructed to present their weapons and all relevant documents for formal handover, the authorities said, warning that failure to comply could result in legal accountability.

The move aims to enhance stability in the region by offering SDF-linked members an opportunity to disengage from armed activity, reintegrate into civilian society, and obtain official civil documentation, the authorities said.

The announcement came amid a broader implementation of recent agreements between the Syrian interim government and the SDF, which include ceasefire arrangements, phased military and security integration, and the gradual restoration of state authority across parts of northern and northeastern Syria.

In recent weeks, the Syrian interim government has expanded security deployments in several areas previously controlled by the SDF, while also launching reconciliation initiatives designed to ease tensions, facilitate the return of displaced residents, and reduce the risk of renewed fighting.
