YANGON, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar on Sunday opened a Union-level Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Product Exhibition and Market Fair in Nay Pyi Taw to mark the country's 79th Union Day, the state-owned daily The Mirror reported on Monday.
Myanmar's Acting President Min Aung Hlaing attended and officially inaugurated the exhibition. Ethnic cultural troupes from different regions and states of Myanmar staged cultural dance performances during the event, the report said.
The exhibition aims to support Myanmar's socio-economic development by promoting MSMEs, encouraging the production of value-added goods, strengthening local manufacturing, and boosting the domestic economy. It also seeks to reduce reliance on imports through import substitution, create employment opportunities, and support the One Region One Product program, it said.
More than 120 booths are featured at the fair, including displays from ministries, MSME products from regions and states, ethnic traditional food stalls, business-matching platforms, and exhibits on technology, agricultural machinery, solar energy, electric vehicles, garments, and company showcases.
The exhibition will run until Feb. 13. ■
