SANTIAGO, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- A 5.8-magnitude earthquake on Sunday hit northern Chile at 1:23 p.m. local time and no casualties have been reported so far, authorities said.
The earthquake occurred in the northern part of the Tarapaca Region of Chile with a depth of 121 kilometers.
Authorities said that there is no tsunami threat following the quake.
Possible damage to people and property caused by the quake is still under investigation. ■
