PREDAZZO, Italy, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- Anna Odine Stroem of Norway claimed the gold medal in the women's normal hill ski jumping event at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics on Saturday, edging Slovenia's title favorite Nika Prevc by just 1.1 points.
Stroem led from start to finish with jumps of 100 and 101 meters, earning a total of 267.3 points, becoming the second Norwegian to win this event, following Maren Lundby at PyeongChang 2018.
"I still haven't quite realized it, I'm in shock. It's amazing," Stroem said as she was lifted onto her teammates' shoulders in celebration.
World Cup leader Prevc took silver with 266.2 points from jumps of 98 and 99.5 meters, while Japan's Nozomi Maruyama claimed bronze with 261.8 points.■
