BISHKEK, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- China is not only a "world factory" but also a world leader in manufacturing, logistics and communications, a Kyrgyz expert has said.
Professor Almazbek Akmataliev, former rector of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Kyrgyzstan, told Xinhua in a recent interview that China is making sustained efforts to expand and modernize its domestic market, strengthen international cooperation in production and logistics chains, improve the investment climate, and deepen Belt and Road cooperation.
He noted that China has largely perfected and continues to refine the entire technological chain, from product creation to delivery to overseas consumers. "In Kyrgyzstan, this is reflected in the effective operation of the Torugart and Irkeshtam border crossings, as well as the opening of the new Bedel checkpoint," he said, adding that the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway holds enormous potential.
In recent years, the Chinese government has placed greater emphasis on safeguarding and improving public well-being, expanding domestic demand and promoting investment to ensure long-term social stability and unlock socioeconomic development potential, Akmataliev said, citing the vitality of socialism with Chinese characteristics under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.
"China's policy can be seen as a deliberate effort to synchronize economic development, social stability and political governance amid growing global uncertainty," he said, adding that such measures help enhance economic resilience, reduce dependence on external factors, build long-term development capacity and strengthen public support for governance.
"Under current conditions, when the international environment is highly volatile and uncertain, focusing on boosting domestic consumption is a rational policy choice for a country like China," he added.
China has achieved a widely recognized "miracle" by combining steady economic growth with long-term social stability, Akmataliev said. He attributed this to the government's emphasis on stability, its pragmatic use of market mechanisms, long-term strategic planning through five-year plans, and tangible policy outcomes that have earned public support.
The Kyrgyz political scientist said he was particularly impressed by what he described as a rare combination in China's development: accelerated economic growth, effective political governance, large-scale poverty reduction and strong institutional resilience. ■
