MUSCAT, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Oman's Foreign Ministry said on Friday that the ongoing indirect talks between Iranian and U.S. delegations in Muscat are focused on preparing the ground for the resumption of diplomatic and technical negotiations on the Iranian nuclear issues.

According to a ministry statement, Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi held separate meetings with the Iranian delegation led by Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and the U.S. delegation headed by the U.S. president's special envoy Steve Witkoff.

The discussions centered on creating suitable conditions for restarting negotiations and ensuring their success.

Al Busaidi reaffirmed Oman's commitment to facilitating dialogue and rapprochement between the parties, and to cooperating with regional and international partners to reach consensual political solutions that support security and stability.

He also expressed appreciation for the efforts of regional countries in backing the talks.
