TOKYO, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks rebounded Friday, driven by dip-buying and solid earnings from Japanese companies.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 435.64 points, or 0.81 percent, from Thursday at 54,253.68. The broader Topix index finished 46.59 points, or 1.28 percent, higher at 3,699.00.

In the top-tier Prime Market, the main gainers were mining, construction, and banking issues.

In early trading, the Nikkei stock index briefly dropped over 800 points, weighed down by heavyweight technology shares, tracking overnight declines in their U.S. counterparts.

But losses were later offset by dip-buying and gains in some domestic demand-sensitive shares, with construction company Shimizu Corp. and seasonings maker Ajinomoto Co. reporting favorable earnings reports.
