ISLAMABAD, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- At least two people were killed and 31 others injured when two passenger buses collided in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province on Wednesday, local officials said.
The accident occurred in Chiniot district, where the buses were traveling on the same route and collided head-on, according to a spokesperson of the Rescue 1122 emergency service.
The spokesperson said several passengers sustained critical injuries. Two of the injured later succumbed to their wounds while being shifted to a nearby hospital, and three others remained in critical condition.
Women and children were among those injured in the accident, the officials added.
Authorities said an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the collision. ■
